An upright, shrubby succulent with slender, bright green stems that branch from the base and leaves that appear near the tips during the warmer months. The plant produces unusual red-orange, slipper-shaped bracts that surround pale yellowish-green flowers from spring through fall. During winter, it may lose its leaves, leaving its green stems exposed. The plant can grow 4–8 feet tall outdoors and up to about 6 feet in containers.
