This wax reflects high levels of ultraviolet light, helping protect the plant from intense sunlight. In spring and early summer, tall arching reddish flower stalks that can reach up to 3 feet high and bear clusters of pale-yellow, flowers that attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.
