This stemless aloe typically forms a solitary rosette that grows up to 1 foot tall and 1–2 feet wide. Its leaves are arranged in a distinctive, perfectly symmetrical spiral that may twist either clockwise or counterclockwise. The spiral consists of five rows, with each row containing approximately 15-30 leaves. Individual leaves are broad at the base and taper to sharp, dark tips, with irregular teeth along the margins. From late spring through summer, mature plants produce a branching inflorescence reaching about 2 feet tall, topped with compact clusters of salmon-pink flowers.
