Opuntia robusta

Opuntia robusta are cacti with paddle-shaped "stems." O. robusta paddles are bluish-green and less spiny than other Opuntia species. Often called the prickly pear cactus. They continuously grow and "branch," creating sprawling plants in the landscape. They bloom in summer with yellow flowers at the edges of the paddles. Burgundy-colored fruits are edible.
