Cabrillo Community College Horticulture

A young, but developing botanical garden and some great lectures are well worth keeping tabs on. The annual plant sale on Mothers Day weekend is extremely popular. Just down the hill from the botanical garden is a great farmers market every Saturday morning. You just might find me there. The staff at Cabrillo come to Succulent Gardens for periodic shopping sprees to bolster the succulent inventory and along with a wide range of other plant material, they grow some beautiful succulents.

UC Berkeley Botanical Garden

The cactus garden at Berkeley is one of the finest in northern California. We began donating plant material to their program several years ago and encourage all to visit and support this wonderful program.

Food recommendations for the Moss Landing area.

The Haute Enchilada Cafe & Galerias

Tasty spices. Robin loves the Mole and the Mexican hot chocolate, yummm.

Sea Harvest

Located on the north side of the harbor with a huge parking lot for boaters, their is no fresher sea food to be had unless you catch it yourself. The view of the harbor is excellent for watching sea lions, otters, pelicans, boats and kayaks and possibly me on my paddle board while you eat.

Phil's Fish Market

Located out on the island in Moss Landing next door to the Monterey Bay Area Research Institute (MBARI) is tasty clam chowder, Boston and New England style, crab ciopino, fish and chips, and so much more. Phil’s is famous. Don’t be intimidated if it is crowded. They are so efficient.

Whole Enchilada Restaurant

Classic Mexican food, tasty margaritas and regular entertainment. Yummm.

Moss Landing Cafe

Don’t let the western style false store front deceive you. The food inside is sooo tasty. For lunch, i like the cajun shrimp in pocket bread. Marc transforms this “cafe” into a uniquely Moss Landing style elegant Friday and Saturday night dining experience.

Lighthouse Cafe

Scrumptious Breakfast!

Surf City Coffee in Moss Landing

A double cappuccino perfectly dry and a Morning Glory while I download the mornings emails from their free wifi. If you are traveling through Moss Landing, this is a quickie wifi connection and pick me up.

Elkhorn Slough

The Elkhorn Slough dominates the environment in which Succulent Gardens is located, only second to the Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary. The foundation is about five minutes from the nursery and offers relaxing walks and educational exhibits.

UCSC Arboretum

The arboretum at UCSC is located on the university campus in Santa Cruz and overlooks the entire Monterey Bay. If you have never visited, put it on your list of destinations. It is one more jewel on the Monterey Bay. The protea garden is fabulous! Anyone who is interested in the world of Dudleyas should look up Steve McCabe while visiting and be sure to see the entire succulent collection. We are proud to be a supporter of the UCSC arboretum.
